Maricopa County Assessor Rental Registration

Property Management/Rental Property Registration

For Owners

Register your rental with the Maricopa County Assessor.

Arizona law (A.R.S. § 33-1902) requires owners of residential rental property to register it with the county assessor, and to update the information within 10 days of any change. Here’s how to do it online in a few minutes, or by mail.

Register OnlineMail-In Form (PDF)

Why It Matters

Before a tenant moves inA residential rental property can’t be occupied unless the required information is on file with the county assessor.
Tenant rightsIf the home isn’t registered, a tenant may give a 10-day notice to comply, and can end the lease if the owner doesn’t register in time, with prepaid rent returned.
Civil penaltiesCities and towns may impose civil penalties for failing to register, which can add up quickly. Registering promptly avoids them.
Keep it currentUpdate your registration within 10 days whenever your information changes.

Good to Know

Registering doesn’t change who manages your home, but it can change how the property is classified for tax purposes. The Assessor’s form notes that a registration may result in a tax increase.
